Straw Marquetry One Time Workshop

Straw marquetry was born in Europe, and especially France, during the 17th century when clergymen, sailors and prisoners, used straw to decorate boxes, furniture, murals, etc. Put aside for many years, straw marquetry came back into fashion during the Art Deco period, when the most prestigious decorators such as Jean-Michel Frank and André Groult returned this art to its former glory.

What Participants Have to Say

Judith is a wonderful teacher! I had the privilege of learning from her this morning the art of Straw Marquetry. Judith patiently taught us the history, tools and materials of this rare artisian craft. I felt that this was a special experience and I look forward to learning more.

Judith is an artist with endless enthusiasm and amounts of knowledge, conveying her very special knowledge with simplicity and humility. I had a lot of fun and would recommend it to anyone.
